Why are routines are difficult?

It’s been a while since I’ve last written. I have been wanting to commit to doing it regularly, but that’s a tough thing to do for some reason. Along with a lot of other things in my life right now.

I’ve had a really hard time getting back into routines that I enjoyed. I thrived when I would wake up early, do yoga, eat healthy, etc. Since the pandemic and cancer, it’s been extremely difficult to set a routine. It has also been hard to stick with one, once I set it. But, I honestly don’t even think being sick has anything to do with it. The sudden stoppage of daily life when the Pandemic hit, sent ripples out in all directions. That’s really when I can nail down a time that my routines truly collapsed.

All of us were trying to cling to some sort of normalcy. That’s when really when I started developing new ways to go about my days in solitude. Now I work remotely full time, which is a blessing and a curse. I can’t seem to figure out a comfortable schedule that reinforces regularity and most importantly, accountability.

I will have one of these epiphany-esque moments where I want to hit the reset button. I’ll set my alarms and try to get things in my life realigned. I’ll do great until there just isn’t a reason to do it anymore. The momentum always seems to fade after a week or two and once it fades, it’s really hard to get wind in the sails again.

Maybe this time will be different…
